The objective of the NSF Workshop on CMOS+X: Cointegration of CMOS with Emerging Technologies (X) is to bring together an international group of experts from a wide spectrum, including industry, academia, and research labs to explore new strategies to revitalize the U.S. semiconductor industry. Under the sponsorship of the National Science Foundation, this workshop will aim to identify current challenges and opportunities for the development of critical infrastructure able to fabricate both advanced CMOS and new technologies (hitherto referred as the ‘X’), and integrate them in a seamless manner. The anticipated outcome of this workshop is a list of strategic recommendations for both facilities and programs, which will cement the U.S. leadership in the semiconductor industry.
