Diversity Overview
The Center for E3S fostered an equitable environment and inclusive practices in all aspects of Center activities. Based on the Center’s vision to build and sustain a community that views diversity as a critical element of scholarly excellence, E3S educated the next generation of scientists with a strong focus on broadening the participation of students from historically underrepresented groups.
E3S diversity goals included
- Sustaining Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) programs that expose students to educational pathways in STEM
- Encouraging all E3S members to be actively engaged with inclusion efforts
- Recruiting highly talented underrepresented students and promoting Center programs at national conferences and annual meetings
- Collaborating with on- and off-campus partners to broaden the reach of programming initiatives
