Education

E3S Education Programs

The Center for E3S seeks to educate the next generation of scientists while maintaining a strong focus on broadening the participation of students from historically underrepresented groups.  Education at all levels is an important aspect of the Center’s mission, and the educational programs within the Center seek to reflect this.  In particular, the Center has had a very strong relationship  with many community colleges across the state of California, and has education programs for both community college students and community college faculty members.

E3S Education Goals include:

  • Sustaining Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) that will expose students to educational pathways in STEM
  • Broaden participation by increasing awareness and exposure to the leading edge technology the Center creates
  • Train the Center’s postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate students both through professional and leadership development
  • Have a continued impact on the California community college system through research experiences and curriculum development
