The Center for E3S is thrilled to be hosting research interns and visiting faculty from a wide variety of institutions across the country. The Center is hosting 85 students and community college faculty in 7 educational programs across 3 member institutions, greatly surpassing the number of visitors from any previous summer.
In the second week of June, the E3S Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Program for upper-division undergraduates will welcome its 11 interns at UC Berkeley, 2 interns at MIT and 1 intern at Stanford.

At UC Berkeley, the Center’s Transfer-to-Excellence (TTE) Program hosts community college students either as research interns in the TTE Research (TTE REU) Program or as summer students in the TTE Cross-Enrollment (TTE X-Enroll) Program.
The Center’s partnership with two other NSF-funded centers at UC Berkeley, Synthetic Biology Engineering Research Center and Center of Integrated Nanomechnical Systems, is enabling 14 students from community colleges across California to engage in research this summer; 5 of these interns will be completing projects within E3S.

This summer the E3S Teacher Fellows Program will host two Bay Area community college faculty members at UC Berkeley. Additionally, a new program for faculty is being introduced, the Context-Based Research Experiences for Community College Faculty Program is in partnership with the UC Berkeley Mechanical Engineering department and will host 4 community college faculty members.
